Antonio Lapone est le digne descendant des tenants (Chaland, Clerc…) de la nouvelle ligne claire des années 80. Pour Gentlemind (parution chez Dargaud le 21 août), il s’associe à Teresa Valero et Juan Díaz Canales, le scénariste de Blacksad.
Le récit se déroule dans les années quarante et cinquante , à New York, dans le monde de la presse. Lapone utilise à merveille son dessin en adoptant, cette fois, la technique du crayon et de l’aquarelle, pour dresser le portrait poignant d’une femme confrontée à un monde d’hommes ; à l’image de celui de la série Mad Men. Hommage à la presse magazine américaine (Esquire, Life, Collier’s…), Gentlemind est un récit foisonnant transpercé par l’énergie vitale de New York.
A l’occasion de la parution de Gentlemind, la Galerie Champaka présente la couverture et l’intégralité des planches originales, ainsi que des illustrations inédites de différents formats. Un superbe ensemble, réalisé en couleurs directes, qui fait de cette exposition un incontournable de la rentrée BD !
Antonio Lapone is the worthy descendant of the masters of the new clear line of the 80s (Chaland, Clerc…). For Gentlemind (published by Dargaud on August 21), he joins forces with Teresa Valero and Juan Díaz Canales, the writer of Blacksad .
The story takes place in the forties and fifties, in New York, in the world of the press. Lapone uses his drawing wonderfully, adopting this time the technique of pencil and watercolour, to paint a poignant portrait of a woman confronted with a world of men; like the one in the series Mad Men. A tribute to America’s magazine press (Esquire, Life, Collier’s…), Gentlemind is a rich story pierced by the vital energy of New York.
On the occasion of the release of Gentlemind, Galerie Champaka presents the cover and all of the original pages, as well as unpublished illustrations in various formats. A superb ensemble, made in direct colour, which makes this exhibition a must-see for the fall comic book season!
Antonio Lapone is de volwaardige afstammeling van de groten van de nieuwe klare lijn van de jaren 80 (Chaland, Clerc…). Voor Gentlemind (verschijnt bij Dargaud op 21 augustus) werkte hij samen met Teresa Valero en Juan Díaz Canales, de scenarist van Blacksad.
Het verhaal speelt zich af in New York tussen 1939 en 1945 in de onverbiddelijke perswereld. Lapone gebruikt zijn gestileerde tekenstijl om een treffend portret te tekenen van een vrouw die met een mannenwereld wordt geconfronteerd, net als in de reeks Mad Men. Gentlemind is een eerbetoon aan de Amerikaanse tijdschriften (Esquire, Life, Collier’s…) en een rijk verhaal, doorspekt met de levensenergie van New York.
Ter gelegenheid van het verschijnen van Gentlemind brengt Galerij Champaka het omslag en alle originele platen, naast onuitgegeven illustraties op verschillende formaten. Een schitterend ensemble, rechtstreeks in kleur gemaakt, dat van deze tentoonstelling een must maakt voor het nieuwe stripschooljaar!
