Gentlemind T.II
31/03/2022 > 23/04/2022

Antonio Lapone is the worthy successor to the pioneers (Chaland, Clerc, etc.) of the new Clear Line of the 1980s. For the diptych Gentlemind (Ed. Dargaud), he has teamed up with Teresa Valero and Juan Díaz Canales, the writer of Blacksad.
While the first volume took place in the 1940s and 1950s in New York, the second dates back to the early 1970s, still in the world of the printed press. Lapone uses his drawing wonderfully, this time adopting the technique of pencil and watercolour, to paint a poignant portrait of a woman confronted with a world of men; like the one in the Mad Men series. A tribute to the America’s great magazines (Esquire, Life, Collier’s…), Gentlemind is a vibrant narrative suffused with the vital energy of New York.
To mark the publication of the finale of Gentlemind, Galerie Champaka presents the cover artwork and almost all of the original interior pages, as well as unpublished illustrations in different formats. Made in direct colours, the whole selection is exceptionally magnificent!
